Run five miles and you'll be panting. Allow students to use their native language with peers for a quick brainstorm to discover what they know about a topic before presenting their ideas to the whole class.

Potato chips crunch too loudly to eat during an exam. Games are more engaging. If a child decides that reading is boring or frustrating, they won't want to read and their ability to learn will be diminished.

In an ideal world, I would do it for every read aloud.

When children feel like their opinion doesn't matter, or they're stuck, they're likely to disengage from the learning process. Let children pick their own books to read, help them read, and create activities for them that make reading fun.

There isn't necessarily one right or wrong learning style, or mix of learning styles.
